February 2021 Update

Holy snowstorm Batman!

That polar vortex thingy was a bitch. I hope everyone that was affected is recovered or is almost recovered from that monster. The thing ate up a lot of days this month, in preparations, enduring the days with no internet (what is a synonym for this word!) or no power (so freaking cold!), and in recovering afterward. I haven’t gotten my electric bill that covers the storm days yet, but I hope it isn’t too bad. And speaking of which, the days with no power really pointed out just how much we rely on electricity for so many things. I did manage to re-read a favorite book (An old fashioned book, printed on paper!) in the days with no power, though I had to read by candle light once the sun went down for the few hours before I went to sleep. I have a big bird of paradise plant (that looks amazing) in a pot that I brought in from my back porch in the days prior, but I think about the only plant that stayed out there that survived is a lemon tree/bush that I covered with a couple of sheets. The rest look yellow-brown and dead. Ah, well.

At any rate, I was able to finish my read-through and am about halfway through the first draft of chapter eleven. I found some minor errors and added a bit to a few sections and had to spend some time researching a few things, but those kinds of efforts are all worth it in the end, I think.

Until next time, happy reading!
